2022 Season Predictions

And just like that, another College Football season is upon us!  After a season considered by many to be the best one in recent memory, if not of all time, we look forward to 2022.  Once again, many of the usual suspects find themselves among the Vegas favorites for the Nation title: Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia, and Clemson, respectively.  USC, spearheaded by new coach Lincoln Riley, appears fifth in the odds-making world at about +2000.  What should we make of the numerous transfers, quarterback battles, and many new head coaches that headline top programs such as Alabama, Notre Dame, Texas, Clemson, LSU, and previously mentioned USC?  All of these will surely be intriguing storylines to watch during the 2022 season.

Without further ado, I will present you with my (quickly dissolving) Power 5 Conference Champions, Playoff teams, and Heisman winner.  Here is the point system I have concocted for the upcoming season’s predictions.  Use it as you wish to compare my predictions to others, etc.

    1. Ya, it is slightly odd given the fact that USC and Utah are essentially co-favorites to win the Pac-12, but I guess the Lincoln Riley hype gives them a higher ceiling in the eyes of Vegas.

  1. I know there has been a lot of hype about Utah; Surprised to see them higher than ND. I believe ND has a better shot at making the playoffs and a tougher strength of schedule.

    1. Interesting take! Notre Dame will surely be a playoff contender as well. But, Ohio State’s offense will likely overpower Notre Dame in week 1, and the games against Clemson and potentially USC might knock them out of contention. Utah has some tough road games on its schedule against Florida, UCLA, and Oregon, but I don’t know if Florida and UCLA have the depth to hang with them. My prediction is that Utah loses its lone game to Oregon but revenges it in the Pac-12 Championship Game!
